Ruthie is the project of songwriter-musician, Naomi Baguley. Taking nods from the timeless songwriting of Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks, as well as more contemporary artists such as Angel Olsen and Alex Cameron. Ruthie blends effortless pop songs steeped in 70s nostalgia with Baguley’s unmistakable talent for articulating the most intimate and personal of thoughts. Combining effortless, goosebump-inducing vocals, piano hooks, girl group backing harmonies, and psych-tinged guitars, Ruthie's music feels like a cathartic journey for both songwriter and listener.
2019 was a big introductory year for Ruthie, culminating with the release of debut EP ‘Universal Heartbreak Now’. Ruthie was hailed as One To Watch by The Observer, gained Tracks Of The Week from the Sunday Times, NME, Dazed, The Independent, continued support from DIY, Vice, Nylon and more, as well as Radio support from Radio 1, 6Music, Beats 1 and being named one of BBC Introducing in Leeds Ones To Watch for 2020.
